Southern Star recently announced that it experienced no lost time accidents in 2005.  The significance of this achievement is underscored by the fact that its employees worked a total of 823,369 hours (the equivalent of 34,307 24-hour days) and drove a combined 6,082,480 vehicle miles (the equivalent of 245 trips around the earth).

Southern Star’s mission statement and key success factors are tied together with the over-arching theme of safety – for its employees, system, and communities. The intense focus on safety provides a direct benefit to Southern Star’s customers.

“Safe workers are productive workers, better ensuring system reliability,” said Jerry Morris, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Safety practices include not only attention to the personal safety of employees, but attention to the safe operation of the system.  One of our primary goals is customer service excellence.  Keeping employees safe and keeping our system safe enhance the service experience for our customers.”
