Southern
Star 2nd Nationally In Customer Service Gas Daily Reports
Energy publication Gas Daily reported
in its May 20, 2004 edition that Southern Star Central Gas
Pipeline (Southern Star) ranked
second nationally in one segment of Mastio & Company’s
most recent customer satisfaction survey of natural gas pipelines.
The survey segmented the pipelines into six categories: mega,
major, regional, interstate, intrastate, and Canadian, with some
pipelines appearing in more than one grouping.
Southern Star ranked second in the major interstate pipeline
segment, which includes pipelines with at least 1,000 miles of
pipe that serve three or more states. Ranking first was Williams
Gas Pipeline-Northwest.
According to Mastio & Company, the rankings were based on
interviews with industrial end-users, local distribution companies,
independent power producers, and marketers. Each respondent rated
the pipelines on 30 customer satisfaction attributes including
integrity, accuracy of invoices, personnel expertise, and overall
company performance. This is Mastio’s eighth edition of
the customer satisfaction survey, which they state covers approximately
85% of the gas transported in North America.
Southern Star ranked fifth nationally of the 43 gas pipelines
in the survey in terms of customer satisfaction. In the Midwest
region section, Southern Star ranked number one in terms of customer
value. Ranking second was Panhandle Eastern Pipeline.
Since 2000, Southern Star has ranked 22nd, 31st, 7th and 11th
, respectively.
“This is truly a testimony of the hard work and dedication
of all Southern Star employees,” commented Jerry Morris,
President and Chief Operating Officer. “Even though there
is still much room for improvement, we are truly proud of what
we have been able to accomplish thus far.”
“Our organization has been in a constant state of change
since late 1999,” said Jim Harder, Vice President Customer
Services and Business Development. “We have continued to
remain focused on our primary mission of providing safe, efficient,
and reliable transportation service to our customers.”
