Open Season for for Additional Firm Storage Service

May 12, 2009, Owensboro, KY

Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc. (Southern Star) announces the commencement of a Storage Open Season to solicit binding bids for new Firm Storage Service. Southern Star has modified the proposed Storage Expansion Project that was proposed in the Open Season conducted from January 12, 2009 to February 20, 2009. Southern Star has determined that with this Open Season it can construct facilities to expand its existing storage capacity by a minimum of 4,000,000 Dth, with an increase in daily deliverability of a minimum of 40,000 Dth/d.

Parties interested in Firm Storage Service are invited to submit binding bids between 8 a.m. CDST on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, and 5 p.m. CDST on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Interested parties may access Open Season information on its electronic bulletin board (CSI) at: csi.sscgp.com under the “Open Season Information” tab in the “Information Postings / Other Postings” Area of CSI.

Responses to this Open Season will help determine if market demand economically justifies the Modified Storage Service Expansion Project. Southern Star will notify customers that have submitted binding bids of its decision regarding any expansion of storage facilities as soon as possible following the deadline for bid submission. Southern Star would file a Section 7(c) application seeking authority from FERC to construct the storage expansion facilities subject to its ability to execute precedent agreements with creditworthy entities that are sufficient, in Southern Star’s sole judgment, to make the project economically viable, and upon approval by Southern Star’s Board of Directors.

“Additional Firm Storage Service will reduce natural gas price volatility for Southern Star’s existing and future customers, and enhance gas supply management, flexibility and liquidity for shippers. The Mid-continent region has exhibited a growing appetite for new storage, and we believe this expansion is a great first step towards satisfying that appetite” said Jerry Morris, President and Chief Executive Officer for Southern Star.
