National Safe Digging Month

The Common Ground Alliance (CGA) and its stakeholders have designated April as National Safe Digging Month. This month is dedicated to increasing awareness of safe digging practices throughout the country. Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc. is encouraging all stakeholders (affected public, emergency responders, excavators, public officials, and farmers) to use the federally-mandated national number, 811, to “Call Before You Dig.”    Please click on the link below to find out how Southern Star is promoting National Safe Digging Month and how YOU can participate.

Here are some ways SSCGP is participating in April:

• A high school $1000 scholarship has been established for the seniors that attend a high school that falls in the 1320 ft. buffer around SSCGP pipeline (660 ft. on each side).  Students must submit a one page essay conveying the “Know What’s Below; Call Before You Dig” message to two of the four stakeholder audiences.  Click on the appropriate icon on the right of Southern Star’s homepage to view the eligible schools. • A poster designing contest has been established for the elementary schools that fall in the 1320 ft. buffer around SSCGP pipeline (660 ft. on each side).  First, second, and third place will receive $100, $75, and $50, respectively.  The top twelve entries will be included in Southern Star’s 2013 Calendar.   These posters will depict a Public Awareness message.  Click on the appropriate icon on the right of Southern Star’s homepage to view the list of eligible schools. • Always call 811 before beginning any outdoor digging project, large or small.
• Remind your neighbors to call 811 if you see them planning a digging project.

Canadian Blackwell Binding Open Season Extended

Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc. would like to announce the extension of the Binding Open Season for the Canadian Blackwell Expansion Project. The effective end of the Binding Open Season has been extended from 5 p.m. (CST) December 1st, 2011 to 5 p.m. (CST) January 10th, 2012. Southern Star Announces Binding Open Season for the Canadian Blackwell Expansion Project

Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc. is pleased to announce the commencement of its Binding Open Season for additional firm transportation capacity originating in western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle.  “Southern Star is geographically positioned to easily add incremental pipeline capacity for transporting gas supply from the developing Granite Wash area in western Oklahoma and Texas. The Canadian Blackwell Expansion project will ultimately provide increased supply diversity for our customers and their markets at a competitive rate,” said Philip Rullman, Vice President & Chief Commercial Services Officer.
